Given a choice, Njay always goes for the soulful. The Nigerian singer enjoys a growing reputation not only as an innovative artist pushing the boundaries of Gospel Music, but also as an attentive and thoughtful songwriter.
On the belief that to achieve Gospel Music success one must lead with melody and Inspiration, and then lyrics.
Njay, who many say has mastered walking this tightrope, notes that there’s a place for each variable. Sometimes she even compromises lyrics for melody and vibe, she concedes, because as much as she loves to write and be cohesive, she also wants the listener to “feel proper Gospel and Inspirational Song”

Who played all of the instruments across your songs?
Thank you, I worked with a couple of producers on the album, one of them being the amazing NOEL Jo ; he put the “happy” melody in INDULGE.
Interestingly I quite was surprised he brought my dream to live because I was supposed to do the song with an European orchestra hence the French; I love French but that’s a story for another day. Due to a turn of events plans changed and although I was very skeptical about doing it without the group infact it took me a very long while before I was convinced to do it without the European orchestra.
However we were still able to bring the melody in my head to reality, I was thrilled from the very first chord He played and voila!
I was happy to say the least because INDULGE is a song that was written out of so much gratitude. It has a really beautiful and of course emotional story but the short version is God really does INDULGE us.
I love the running artwork across your discography, they all feature bright bold colours and look like they’ve been painted. Can you tell me a bit more about your artwork?
Thanks again, that’s what happens when you give stuff to people that know their job. Although I can’t take any credits for the artwork
Features on your recent album, can you talk to me about the project as a whole?
The project is my baby literally because it’s my debut album. It kickstarted with XOXO my very first single where I featured the one and only King Nyama and music boss Mirobed David, this is the only song in the album I wrote separately because the other songs came together for days stretch ,fascinating story really.I also featured the delectable Raychelle Sparks on the track LEGIT. THE CONTRACT album is really loaded with mind blowing tracks from SLAY to BRAG all are flowing from with lyrics that will rearrange the cosmos from God’s lips to yours.
You’ve been pretty prolific over the past couple of years, releasing your album tracks in numerical order #1 through to #6. Talk to me about your process there?
“Prolific!” Sounds like me LoL , thanks I like that. Talking about the process would take nothing short of a good amount of time, say a life time. LOL. You know I love to tell stories, I literally just published my newest novel – GIRL POWER , so let’s not go there. In a nutshell it all boils down to fellowship with God, I always say I never started out to write a song when the songs came pouring out. I was just having my normal meditation session when I began to hear what is now SLAY… it was just like SLAY, Slain, slay, slain… I tried ignoring it but I eventually had to pick up my note and write and for days the songs kept coming so much I had to be like “it’s ok ooo”. I wrote so much that I have enough songs for my second album! It’s just supernatural honestly that’s the only way to describe the process.
Aside your Album, do you’ve any other existing recorded track?
I Recorded non yet but like I said I have enough songs for my second album which I can’t wait to start working on.
Do you have any shows coming up that we should know about?
Yeah I’ll be performing at DANCE ICONS this summer.
So let’s all look forward to that. So many shows to look forward to cause the way I’m been booked for shows I’m just hoping I have time for my birthday LoL.I even have one in December already.
So yeah, I always look forward to doing a show around my birthday – quite sentimental I know right? LOL.
What does the rest of 2021 have in store for you?
More like what do I have in store for 2021? Cause I like to believe we ought to be masters of time as opposed to waiting for time to happen to us. I’ve been touring and still touring with my first album while also working on my second album. Shhhh… so much to look forward to. I’m excited.
There’s no debate on the terrific run Njay has had so far and judging by how frequently she is been booked for shows, it is safe to say that things are about to get significantly better.
